Greetings. I am most delighted to welcome you, with this personal note, to the 10th Congress of Asian Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (ASCAPAP 2019). If the event has not yet captured your attention already, may I once again tempt you to it by saying just how beautiful, close-to-nature, and culturally rich Chiangmai is as a city, and how wonderful it will be as ASCAPAP’s venue later on this October. Between now and that auspicious week, our organizing committee will be doing everything in our power to make sure ASCAPAP 2019 turns out to be most memorable and meaningful for all participants to arrive from all corners of the world.
Through the lens of a psychiatrist, Thailand is a uniquely interesting place. Though our peaceful country preaches rather conservative values over the years, we have also ever-increasingly embraced diverse and, many times, liberal paths in practice. Here, our easy-going “Sabai-Sabai” nature promptly opens ways for discourses and interactions that bring about open exchanges of views and information. With no exception, that is also the case for our field of Psychiatry. Thailand, honored to be this year’s host, will make sure creating a platform for professional engagements and enriching exchanges will be our priority. Finally, with your participation, ASCAPAP 2019 is guaranteed to be that much more fulfilling.
Looking forward to your esteemed attendance.
(Assist. Prof. Panom Katumarn)
President of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society of Thailand
